When you introduce yourself at a party, what do you say that your profession is?
I’m a cinematographer and portrait photographer.
And what are you really doing?
I’m focusing more and more on storytelling commercials, mini docs and short films.
Describe your work in three words.
Contrasty, noisy, and bold colors.
Do you mainly do commissioned work or free work?
I did a butch of free work and now I’m starting into more commissioned work like editorials.
Could we already be familiar with your work?
Not yet, my work has not received much attention so far.
What have you created that you are most proud of?
My last short film, an art-driven psychological study of a haunted middle-aged man, driven to the verge of suicide by his guilt, as he searches within for redemption.
What's the ugliest thing you've ever made?
Once I left Italy to come to Breda I made a little video of my travels. I recently watched it after three years, and it was quite horrible. But fun to see where I came from haha.
What would you really want to make one day?
I love doing short films, it is such a miracle to see the project finished. Especially something artistic.
Who or what is your biggest source of inspiration?
I would say friends and a few companies. To name a few of my friends Niels Fraemke with his marketing and brand mentality. Valentijn van de Heuvel, fellow cinematographer. Both inspire and support me a lot. From companies to get a bit out of Europe's classics I would say Stink Sao Paulo and The Youth. Both companies have amazing directors that are pushing the boundaries both in Brazil and world wide.
Where are you now and where are your ambitions?
I’m between Breda and Amsterdam since I’m doing a work placement at Media.Monks. I’m looking forward to developing myself in a bigger company. However, I want to expand on my own commercial works for this next year.
Why did you create a profile on KONKAV?
Janneke van Laar recommended it to me once I contacted her about an internship. Great to connect more with the community.
Your motto?
“Have faith, enjoy the highs but be prepared for the lows, life is a rollercoaster."
